Former CGIF Program Manager Amanda Engen, Ph.D., will be joining the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) in 2024 as the director of communications and workforce development. Throughout her time with CGIF, Engen helped develop numerous student and educator outreach programs, such as the Teacher Training Workshops, Outreach in a Box, and the IGNITE MSE Professional Development Symposium.

“My time at CGIF has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve enjoyed working closely with educators and students alike to introduce them to the hands-on world of materials science,” Engen says. “I look forward to seeing how Lori Houghton will grow the programs to reach even more audiences and support the brilliant minds shaping the future of ceramic and glass materials science.”

Both ACerS and CGIF staff are confident that Houghton’s skills and expertise will help the foundation thrive going into 2024. The CGIF is looking forward to attracting, inspiring, and supporting the next generation of ceramic and glass professionals under Houghton’s leadership in programs.
