Apply for the ECerS Summer Travel Grant!
Eligible students can use the application below to apply for $1,500 in travel support from the Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation (CGIF).
About this year's summer school from the ECerS website:
The ECerS-FIRE Summer School "Mining the future of refractories and high temperature materials: the impact of sustainability, AI, computing tools and advanced techniques" will be co-organized by ECerS and FIRE at the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS, Dresden, Germany, the week before the next ECerS conference, from Thursday 28 to Friday 29 August 2025.
The school will be organised onsite but also online for those who could not travel to Dresden.
This 2025 edition of the ECerS-FIRE School will be a unique opportunity for the attendees (mostly PhD students, but also professionals) to learn more about (or discover!) refractories through 3 main aspects: fundamental approaches, industrial needs and new approaches on innovations.
The School will also be followed by a visit of the University TU BA Freiberg and of the Freiberg Silver Mine on Saturday August 30th (visit of the refractory, ceramic and metallurgy institutes)!
Students will benefit to lodging in shared rooms in Dresden (4 nights from August 27th until August 30th).

The CGIF is offering $1,500 in travel support to selected undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. students from non-European based universities. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be members of The American Ceramic Society, Material Advantage, Keramos, or the Global Graduate Researcher Network.
Students wishing to apply for financial assistance are strongly encouraged to first secure support from their home institutions for the experience. To determine support eligibility, students must submit a completed application.

The deadline to register for the conference is Thursday, May 15, 2025. Students will be notified of their application status on or before Thursday, May 1, 2025.
