CGIF and Member Volunteers Promote Materials Science Education in Atlanta
By Belinda Raines
ACerS members David Ahearn, Josh Pelletier, Norm Phelps, and Dave Tucker recently volunteered their time and expertise at the National Science Teachers Association National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. They assisted CGIF staff by explaining scientific concepts and demonstrating lab activities from the CGIF’s Materials Science Classroom Kit at the conference, which took place March 15 – 17, 2018.
Pelletier and Tucker, both from IMERYS Aluminates and Ahearn of Engineering Strategies, Inc. are all members of the Refractory Ceramics Division of ACerS. Phelps is on the Board of Trustees of the CGIF.
The Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation appreciates the dedication of these volunteers who share our commitment to student and teacher outreach, as we all strive to encourage more students to become involved in ceramic and glass science and engineering.
