The Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation (CGIF) recently participated as an exhibitor at the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) Regional Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. We are grateful for the following ACerS members who volunteered their time and expertise at the event:
Tom Arbanas (Du-Co Ceramics), Stephanie Chapman (Emerson Electric), Jake Wieland and Paul Kramer-Arndts (AluChem), Victor Arulapppan Pushparaj (Wright State University), Ian Prendergast (retiree), and Tulsi Patel (Air Force Research Lab),
Each volunteer had a great time assisting CGIF staff in explaining scientific concepts and demonstrating lab activities from the CGIF’s Materials Science Classroom Kit at the conference, which took place November 14-16, 2019.
The CGIF appreciates the dedication of these volunteers who share our commitment to student and teacher outreach, as we all strive to encourage more students to become involved in ceramic and glass science and engineering. Similar volunteer opportunities will be available in April: the NSTA National Conference in Boston (April 2-5) and the USA Science and Engineering Festival in Washington, DC (April 24-26). If you think you might be interested in participating, contact Belinda Raines at braines@ceramics.org.
