The Air Products Foundation recently announced that it will donate $15,000 to The Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation (CGIF) and The Glass Manufacturing Industry Council (GMIC), both located in Columbus, Ohio, to foster innovation by the next generation of ceramic and glass professionals.
The 83rd Conference on Glass Problems (GPC), which is presented by the GMIC, will take place October 31–November 3, 2022 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.
“Air Products is committed to helping glass and ceramic producers achieve their sustainability goals through development of innovative combustion technologies that improve energy efficiency and enable the use of cleaner fuels,” said Ojas Desai, Director, Americas Strategy, Marketing and Technology at Air Products. “We are excited to contribute to the vision of a bright future for the industry through this donation to CGIF and GMIC.”
According to Marcus Fish, Director of Development for the CGIF, the gift from Air Products will help greatly with their mission to attract, inspire, and support the next generation of ceramic and glass professionals. “We are thrilled to have Air Products support for our programs, especially during the International Year of Glass,” Fish said. “Their generous contribution will help to encourage more young people to pursue careers in the ceramic and glass materials community.”
“It’s a testament to Air Products’ vision, that they have made this commitment to helping to develop the work force that will take the glass manufacturing industry forward into the next generation,” said GMIC’s Executive Director Bob Lipetz. “We are grateful that progressive companies like Air Products support the Glass Manufacturing Industry Council’s efforts through their generous grants.”
The Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation was created in 2014 by The American Ceramic Society. In pursuit of its mission, the CGIF developed and manages programs in the areas of K-12 student outreach, university-industry networks, student travel grants and exchanges and student leadership development programs.
