The Air Products Foundation recently announced that it will donate up to $15,000 to The Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation (CGIF) and The Glass Manufacturing Industry Council (GMIC), both located in Columbus, Ohio.

The grants will foster innovation by the next generation of ceramic and glass professionals and provide support for students to attend the GMIC 84th Conference on Glass Problems (GPC), taking place November 6-9, 2023, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

“Air Products is committed to helping advance the ceramic and glass industries. Our team continues to focus on enabling glass producers to navigate the complexities of decarbonization with high-efficiency, low-emissions combustion technologies and safe, reliable clean hydrogen solutions,” said Mike Pires, Vice President North & Central Commercial Enablement- Americas at Air Products. “Through this donation to the Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation, we are investing in the development of future glass professionals to support a thriving industry.”

Marcus Fish, Director of Development and Industry Relations, at CGIF and the American Ceramic Society, said “We are extremely thankful for Air Products’ support for our programs, especially our student and educator outreach programming. This gift will help the CGIF continue to attract the next generation of ceramic and glass professionals through exciting and engaging activities that highlight the ceramic and glass materials community.”

“GMIC is grateful for Air Products’ ongoing commitment to the industry and to student education,” said GMIC Executive Director Kerry Ward. “This generous grant allows GMIC to reach students interested in glass science and engineering, and to develop the glass manufacturing industry work force.”

The Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation was created in 2014 by The American Ceramic Society. In pursuit of its mission, the CGIF developed and manages programs in the areas of K-12 student outreach, university-industry networks, student travel grants and exchanges and student leadership development programs.
