During the Summer of 2021, the CGIF issued a Call for Proposals for outreach projects that incorporated the use of our materials science kits. Due to the success of the program, CGIF will extend the deadline for proposals until November 1st, 2021. All individuals, including teachers, student outreach groups, and community members are eligible to apply.
Project proposals should be directly related to introducing students to ceramic and glass science through the use of our Materials Science Classroom Kit and/or Mini Materials Science Kit. The grant will allow a recipient to develop or extend existing efforts to grow the base of ceramic and glass education, training, or outreach.
For your project, the CGIF will provide up to 10 Materials Science Classroom Kits ($250 value per kit) OR up to 50 Mini Materials Demo Kits ($50 value per kit) OR a combination of both kits, not to exceed a total value of $2,500. Proposals will be accepted from only US-based organizations and individuals due to the high cost of shipping kits to international locations.
Supplemental funding is available for projects, if needed, and should be proportional to the number of kits requested: $50 per Materials Science Classroom Kit and $10 per Mini Materials Demo Kit ($500 maximum per proposal).
Proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis until November 1st, 2021.
